An Overview of NEET

Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the NEET UG is termed as a qualifying test for admissions in various medical courses like MBBS, BHMS/ BDS, BUMS, etc. offered at an undergraduate level in India. Being one of the largest & most competitive exams, it is conducted in the month of May every year.

For NEET 2024, the exam date has been announced by NTA with the release of an official notification, which says on 5th May 2024, the NEET Exam will be conducted in 13 languages across India.

Then comes the total seats, there are 99,763 MBBS seats, 26,949 BDS seats, 52,720 AYUSH seats, 603 BVSc & AH seats, 1,899 AIIMS seats, and 249 JIPMER seats available in 612 medical and 315 dental colleges- according to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Dental Council of India (DCI) data for the most recent NEET seats.

Following the same eligibility criteria, it is expected that in December 2023, the registration process will begin for NEET Exam 2024.

Earlier, a whopping 20.87 lakh candidates applied for the exam, surpassing last year's numbers by 2.57 lakh (according to NEET 2023 registration statistics).
